Pete,

As indicated by others, the login name of the user account has probably been
changed, so the id entered may be different, but Windows still thinks it is
the same account

Sort of like you using a new email id through a new ISP, but keeping the
same PC

Also - the 'My Documents' in the root of C: is probably a different
directory to the one that windows uses for the user's profile and personal
settings.
Many people set this up to be a common area used by whatever user logs onto
that system
and - as you have found out - it sure can be confusing!!

------------------

If you look in the folders side of a windows explorer list,
at the top of the list above "My Computer" you will probably find a "My
Documents" entry

open this,

Then position the mouse pointer over the icon at the left hand end of the
title bar,
hold down the left button and drag the pointer over the file window
That should create a shortcut to the folder

Now you can right click on that shortcut and Properties will show you the
location (full name ) of that folder

You can also right click on the "My Documents" entry at the top of the
explorer's folder list above "My Computer"
and by changing the name shown in that entry, you can tell windows what
folder you want used for that user

But - beware - if you point this to a different Partition, or to a networked
drive, it can cause all sorts of problems if the selected location is not
available for the user when they try to log-on, or if that location gets
disconnected/discarded while they are logged on
