Let me refresh the mempries of anyone patient enough to still be reading.

The notebook belongs to my stepson and is sitting on a table beside me. The Westel "gateway" is attached to my computer, the one I'm using now.

His notebook had been working wirelessly when he first left it here, connecting to a neighbor's network. However, it did see the SSID broadcast by the Westell and was not able to connect to it.

Now the notebook doesn't see anything.
