Hi folks Yesterday we had a little rain compared to New Orleans and Naples etc. but a pretty big downpour for us and a few bolts of lightening.
Bang! went the local sub station and the whole of west Sussex was out of power for 3 and a bit hours. Tough I hear you say but then when our power supplies are so very stable (dare I say unlike some areas in the US) it was so annoying. However, my server refused to reboot although everything else did Ok when power came back (how do the machines know they were switched on?) Thinking that the message from the boot screen was a warning "BIOS incorrect" carry on or load defaults? I went into the BIOS and saw all was Ok so I rebooted - or not as nothing happened. No screen no POST nothing. Thinking the worst I looked at the connections and had to remove the mains plug to get it out of it's 'hole'. Wiggled a few things and put mains plug back at which point - machine booted Ok. Any ideas as to what happened?
