And don't forgot the original version full screen and wide screen which was
supplemented by the "special edition" release updated version in 1997. You
could have at least 4 versions right there, not including the THX
version(s)!

I have 4 versions of the original trilogy with one of them being the THX version. Maybe I ought to try & unload them on eBay but they don't have much of a collectors value as they've each have been played at least once. Like you said tho the DVDs are still much better than any of those. I wonder what the HD DVD version will look & sound like. ;-)

I had a salesman tell me back in about 1983 that I should purchase a HI-FI
VHS VCR and hook it up to my stereo as a replacement for a reel-to-reel tape
deck. He said at the time, "everybody is doing it," because the reel-to-reel
is becoming an obsolete dinosaur for the home market. At the time, blank
hi-fi vhs tapes were still pretty expensive, so I stuck with cassettes.

I had a great Teac Reel to Reel system back then & can remember dropping a bundle on my HiFi VHS deck because heck, I was teaching CADD when hardly anyone knew what a computer was and making big money. Those were the days & it was great when we had parties that I had a 6 hr tape ready to go & never had to mess with the audio the whole time. People were always asking me where the music was coming from & they couldn't believe that great sound was coming from a video tape through my stereo system.

So some people actually do buy Playboy for the articles! :)

My former wife had bought me a subscription so I felt obliged to read the articles. ;-)
