Got a Win 98SE box that connects over SBC Yahoo DSL through an SBC
supplied Speedstream 5360 modem using a Linksys 4 port router.
I have a second business laptop running Win XP pro sp1 usually over Cisco
VPN connection through the same Linksys and Speedstream modem.
Recently the 98SE box connects to the internet and about 10 minutes into
the session I can not browse.
I can still send and receive emails but must shut down and restart the PC
to browse the internet again.
Obviously something has changed on the box as the XP laptop never has this
issue and I can always surf whether connecting through Cisco or
in "workstation only" mode to use the box with the internet and not
connect to the business network.
Although I am about to replace this old Pentium II I am curious what are
some things to look for. I thought perhaps it was a DNS issue but it
appears I cannot connect to IP addresses OR sites by name.
