latest version of Total Commander & not take up as much memory. One

talking about PaintShop which also can view thumbnails?
No, not using photoshop for the thumbnails -- explorer or irfan -- but
thumbnails open WHILE photoshop is open to work on a large file.

If it were me I'd make sure that the laptop supported firewire & that you
used a firewire external HD for backups. Glad that I could help out &
can't believe it's been that long already.
