Are you talking about PD6 (the latest) or the free PD5 or both?
Thanks for the reference to a replacement...
FWIW I dropped PD years ago when they sold to Vcom (iirc) & they try
to issue a new version claiming full implementation of FTP services
when any fool could see that it was half thrown together.
IMNSHO there is only one decent 3rd party File Mgr for Windows &
that's Total Commander & it's at <http://www.ghisler.com/> or
<http://www.totalcommander.com/>. For a nearly complete list of
features see <http://www.ghisler.com/featurel.htm>. Total Commander
was called Windows Commander but they changed their name when MSFT
had a fit. They issued a revised Pocket PC version in June which
shows that the owner is committed to the development even still &
it's not getting abandoned like so many other shareware apps have
been over the years.
Features in Total Commander 6.53 now include :
* Two file windows side by side
* Multiple language support
* Enhanced search function
* Compare files / synchronize directories
* Quick View panel with bitmap display
* ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB, ACE archive handling + plugins
* Built-in FTP client with FXP (server to server) and HTTP proxy support
* Parallel port link, multi-rename tool
* Tabbed interface, regular expressions, history+favorites buttons
* New: Thumbnails view, custom columns, enhanced search
I'm not an owner but rather a very satisfied customer. Like any file
mgr loaded with features it may take a while to get use to it but
once you do you'll wonder how you lived without it & I include it on
almost every XpPe Cd that build.
