I'm running XP/SP2 Home Edition.
A few weeks ago, the icons in the system tray disappeared! At
boot, only some of the icons for programs such as M'Soft Anti-
Spyware or HP Print Monitor,would show up.
Looking at processes in Task manager, I could see that they were
running, and everything seemed to be working, but no icons. If I
logged off and on again, the icons would return to normal.
Right click on an empty space on the Task Bar then select Properties
& in the lower left you'll find Hide Inactive Icons.
