Presuming that you are trying to do this as an administrator Can you undelete the problem files, or files in the problem directory If so then rename them so the names are smaller (shorter) move them to a higher level directory - but one at least 2 layers down from the primary directory e.g. from C:\this is etwndurable\so i can keep them\kkk\....\file1-todays sales.whats to C:\this is etwndurable\so i can keep them\kkk\....\file1.bad and then C:\a\b\file1.bad
Then see if you can delete them without them going to the wastebin (hold shift down while you right-click and select delete) If you cannot undelete them - then you could try using the shift key option to delete the files (individually, or in small groups) from the RECYCLED folder Other than that - It's keep them till you rebiuld the system, or get a specialised file management/system recovery facility that will actually access those files and deal with the problem - perhaps from somewhere like http://www.sysinternals.com/ JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pranav Lal" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2005 12:43 AM Subject: Re: Unable to empty the Windows 2000 recycle bin > Jim, > <snip Also run chkdsk etc to fix any allocation or indexing errors > PL] been there done that and no change. > > Pranav > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- > Pranav > > -- > ---------------------------------------- > To Change your email Address for this list, send the following message: > CHANGE WIN-HOME your_old_address your_new_address > to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Note carefully that both old and new addresses are required. > > -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
