Hi all,
An observation - appropriate and associated with the subject matter comments
welcome
I recently noted that the partition that includes my email was getting short of
space:
Investigation has identified the source of the problem as my recent use of OE6
to access some 'news' forums
It seems that OE uses the IE Temporary storage for a storage area for the .tmp
files it creates when it does a combine and decode process
and those files are not included in the IE space management - either under the
space usage specification, or the days to keep limit
Additionally, on my W2K system at least, they do not show when you do a search
of
"InternetTempAndHistoryFiles and subdirectories"
but do show when you do a search of
"InternetTempAndHistoryFiles\Temporary Internet Files and subdirectories"
I found there were over 1000 files occupying over 1.5Gb space
I also found, and deleted over 8000 files that were 0 length, and had no type
indications on the names just being either 8 char 'hash code' type names, or a
number in []
So - anybody know of a fix for this behaviour, or a means to stop OE using the
IE storage area
JimB
