I didn't know "bad blocks" could be relocated thinking they were an actual
physical
location and I didn't know about "hidden cylinders". I still think it is
magical
how hard drives work. Amazing!

I just had to trash can a 4 year old Western Digital 100 GB that I could not
run WD Diagnostics on because it said, "This software works only on Western
Digital hard drives." Have any of you seen that dog and pony show before
when you are trying to use Western Digital software on a Western Digital
Drive? Spinrite threw errors, also. It had, before I formatted it, shown
about 7 blocks that contained bad sectors. I guess if Western Digital does
not claim their own drive, you go straight to trash can and bypass phone
booking it. It would not allow ghost in Real DOS mode to copy data to it,
either.
