Indeed.. is that a problem?  I also give MS access to my computer [I'm 
way too lazy to download the patches manually and install them myself].  
But on the other side of the coin, the online scans don't have to embed 
themselves in the very bowels of your system [doing lord knows what (read 
"Sony^H^H^H^HSymantec rootkit"..:o)]

The only real drawback I've seen to using the online scans is that it is 
a bunch slower than using a 'local' one [especially for me on my stupid 
slow dialup line].
