Aha..  Sounds interesting but Audacity is exactly what I wanted: I needed 
to get 7 minutes [in about 5 separate chunks] from the soundtrack, and so 
I just fast-forwarded through the DVD and then in real time un-pausing 
audacity at the appropriate moments.
