WinXP SP2
Until we got a second computer, I had never tried sharing files between
computers. In order to share the files between the two computers, using
Windows Explorer [Win-E], I navigated to the folder I wanted to share, then,
I right clicked and selected "Sharing and Security". Then, I checked the
boxes for "Share this folder on network" and "Allow network users to change
my file". After doing this I was able to share the files.
Now, when I look a "My Network Places" using Windows Explorer, I see "Entire
Network", and entries for the various folders on the other computer, some of
which no longer exist on the other computer. When I look at the contents of
"Entire Network" I see "Microsoft Terminal Services, "Microsoft Windows
Network", and "Web Client Network". Under "Microsoft Windows Network", I
see my network name, and under the network name, I see lines for the two
computers. Under the other computer, I see there remaining shared folders
on the other computer.
QUESTIONS:
1. How do I get rid of the entities under "My Network Places" that no longer
exist?
2. What are the named entries under "My Network Places" for?
3. What does the funny icon before them mean?
4. Is there a better way to share files between the computers?
