I decided to take the cable out of the equation. I purchased an
optical cable and connected the external USB Sound Blaster to the
amp with that cable.
Works like a charm now. No hum.
As you found out those cheap cables that come with most devices can
make an good system sound like crapola. Glad it worked out for you.
