Driving Windows x64: A 15,000-Mile Checkup, with Tips and Workarounds
If you're considering running 64-bit Windows, now's the time to make that
transition. The platform is solid, hardware and software support is mature, and
the performance is incredible.

The author talks about running Windows XP Pro 64-bit edition on his HP xw9300
workstation with a few
minor problems with those pesky 64-bit print drivers of which cause some
problems with Adobe software mainly in its PDF Distiller. The solution is
deskPDF from Docudesk which is much cheaper than the Adobe product

Whats This! No 64-bit Norton or antivirus works at all? No problem here using
Avast for antivirus as a workaround
solved the problem. Some weird IE 64-bit version problems, iTunes won't
recognize his disk burners and WinZip
doesn't install its shell extensions.

Oh well, what to expect from x64-bit technology!
