Subject: Q&A database
Does anyone have a recommendation for a database software for storing
Q & A information? I would like to take all of the tech information that
I find by googling, receive from lists, read in articles, etc., & keep
I have done this for almost 10 years but not via Q & A search results. I
have over 2.5 Gigabytes of email in 1122 .dbx folders in Outlook Express. I
use Message Rules and a Program, Outlook Express Backup
http://www.outlook-express-backup.com/ to back up my Outlook Express
including the Message rules.
Almost 10 years and easily handling 1122 Inbox Folders with over 2.5 GB of
email is all the proof I need that Outlook Express is efficient. I have all
of the mail on several lists sent straight to my folder for that list. In
some I keep everything that comes in. In others I read (or skim read) each
letter and delete the ones that are of no interest to me.
With this type of archiving and it being backed up on media outside of my
computer I have a searchable 2.5+ GB of information to access when I feel
something has been discussed and I want to read it.
I am not proposing my idea as a replacement for what you are seeking, but it
may prove to be a plus to your program. It may be helpful to many who like
to collect information.
Some of us have always thought in terms that there may come a day when we
are cut off from the Internet for a long period of time. If that occurs,
what good is web based email, even if Yahoo does give you a free 2 GB
mailbox? POP mail is king when that happens as you have your email on your
hard drive and it should be backed up on media outside of your computer.
