I'm in the uk and for my needs the legal download site
http://www.tescodownloads.com/ suits me just fine. Tracks £0.79 each, albums
£7.99 which might not seem a great deal in some parts of the world but is not
bad for our little patch on the planet. I realise this might be of no use to
people elsewhere in the world but just in case anyone is interested...

Downloads from Tesco files are wma 192 kbps, 44 kHz, (which are better quality
than the usual 128k mp3 files found on many sites). Digital Rights Management
encrypted - so copies don't work on other machines and so on, but you can burn
them to cd and of course once that is done any ripper can extract them to wav
files which can be manipulated just like any other and can be turned into
whatever format you need.

If you still use Media Player 9 and have the Nero fast burning plug-in they can
be burnt to an image file - so you don't even need to waste a cd-r or use a
cd-rw to get the tracks ready for your favourite editor / ripper. Can't see if
the option can be used with the latest Windows Media player though, one of the
reasons I have not upgraded it.

Bill.
