Hi, all --

I'm trying to get over my eBay phobia. I thought I was doing pretty well
until a seller who didn't take PayPal sent me to BidPay. eBay recommends
against that, but of course eBay owns PayPal. The seller sent me to
www.paypalsucks.com. Can anyone tell me anything about the pros and cons of
these things?

Eve,

Remember, for everything in the world there is someone with a web site
saying it's rotten.
I went to "paypalsucks.com" and they obviously have their own agenda. The
want you to sign up for a "Merchant Account". I didn't bother to read the
fine print, but most of those types of accounts come with a 3% to 5% service
charge on all transactions. American Express gets up to 7%. Don't sign up
unless you understand the bottom line.

I have been using eBay since 1999 and I have a PayPal Premier Account. The
fees charged are small compared to the services provided and the seamless
interaction with eBay. I figure it probably saves about 15 to 30 minutes work
per auction. That adds up after a while. I don't keep a large balance in the
account and have never had any problems.

I am not familiar with BidPay ... so no comment.
