Helen -- xoftspy is known to produce a lot of false positives (perhaps to pressure you into buying it?), and is not considered notably effective in getting spyware off. If you google it you'll find very equivocal reviews.

The standby freeware program is Lavasoft's adaware ( www.lavasoftusa.com) which is good, especially when used in conjunction with other programs. There's a new free microsoft beta antispy that is also supposed to be excellent:

So don't succumb to Xoftspy. It might not even be right about what it "found" on your PC.

I just ran a software program called Xoftspy to check for spyware on my PC.
I found a lot of items that were a threat. It wants $39.95 to register and
delete the suspected items. I am in the low income bracket, so is there anything
out there for free to delete these items for free? I ran Norton spyware
checker and it didn't find these items. TIA
