Beat you to it........   That is exactly what I did.  Mine has two 
flexible leads with a male "D" on the end.  The connector on the card 
is a bit naff though.  The other thing is that Win sees comms 3 & 4.  
Didn't suss it straight away though, and had to tell the software to 
use comm 3 instead of the default com 1

There is a bit of leeway at 100MHz, about 25% less at 133MHz !!

Good equipment helps.  I have a vacumn pump soldering iron as well as 
normal ones.  However a tip.  Suck from the other side of the board 
from the soldering iron.  Its a lot easier that way !!

Yes I agree, it is very easy to damage and lift tracks, even with a hot 
air tool.  Problem is by the time you see the lacquer boil it often too 
late.

I don't know about a fortune, since most people won't pay the labour 
costs to have their computer repaired.!  They seem to want to dump it 
and buy a new one !!!!!   Trouble is credit is too easy to get 
nowadays.

Ok you made me admit it.......   The first thing I did when I got my new 
Dell, was to put Linux on it,  and Open DOS.  So it now triple boots.
