The answer is Yes The consideration: You don't know what is in these 'files'.
Try using WordPad to open them ( each in turn) and see if you recognise the content - if so, then decide if you need the content. You may be able to cut and paste data into a .txt, or .rtf file or possibly get an appropriate application (Excel) to access the file by rename the file with an appropriate type, More difficult to deal with, the files may be part of an application, or even the OS If you can identify which it may give you a clue as to what needs re-installing, or what to expect to fail If they are part of an application or the OS then you probably won't be able to use the file by simply renaming it: Because you wont know the required name, or the file may not be complete. Basic end to the story is : Yes you probably need the content, but they are useless in their current state so you will be able to do nothing useful with them - the only appropriate option being to delete them.
