Go to the vendor's website and click on Support.
I completely agree with Carl but my experience with Supt personnel is
well less than stellar. I would go to the manufacturer's website &
see if they have any newer drivers but other than that & maybe
restricting your use of cordless phones while online I'd still do the
manual assigning of ip addresses. Most routers have as the default
DHCP services turned on just because it's easier to setup that way.
You would have to turn that service off then assign an ip address to
the router & to each of the NICs. Since I don't know which router I
can't be more specific about that but the NICs are easy to setup. Go
to Start/Control Panel/Network Connections then right click on the
NIC that you want to manually assign & select Properties. Scroll down
in the popup window til you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) click on
that then the Properties button in the lower right.
You'll get another window that looks something like this
General
You can get IP settings assigned automatically if your network supports
this capability. Otherwise, you need to ask your network
administrator for
the appropriate IP settings.
Obtain an IP address automatically
Use the following IP address:
Click use the following IP address then fill in the blanks below but
I've already put in suggested values assuming that you set the
router's LAN IP at 192.168.1.1
IP address: 192 . 168 . 1 . 3
Subnet mask: 255 . 255 . 255 . 0
Default gateway: 192 . 168 . 1 . 1
The next values are assigned to you by your ISP for their DNS server
& you should have them on paper someplace but you must keyin the
values manually. The Preferred is req'd while the Alternate is optional.
Obtain DNS server address automatically
Use the following DNS server addresses:
Preferred DNS server: 000. 000. 000. 000
Alternate DNS server: 000. 000. 000. 000
The same thing applies to the wireless NIC(s) as well.
As you know if you have any further problems please don't hesitate to ask.
