Wayne, it sounds like you/we can create a virtual pc with MSFT VPC and then run it
with the free VMware player thus getting the cost-saving of VPC with the
speed/etc. of the VMplayer? If this is correct, then is there any reason for
you/me to purchase the VMware Workstation product?

Not quite accurate but close. I've been running my XpPe compilations thru VPC then a friend that brought a machine in for upgrading & he has the VMware Workstation on his machine so I tried it. My ISO loaded much faster & he's running a 2500+ where as I'm running a 3800+. His machine has a gig of ram & mine has 2gig & both machines have comparable video cards so I saw no reason why VMware loaded my ISO faster then I downloaded the trial version of VMware workstation & ran that on my machine & it loaded the ISO even faster.

I have no idea about the player other than what VMware states on their page but if it's as fast as their workstation then what you say would be possible. I don't know how much MSFT gets for their VPC retail but if I were in the market to buy such an app it would be VMware even if it were twice the price but alas I'm broke & I have VPC so I'll stick to using that. Now I hate the wait even more & wish I had never tried VMware's Workstation. :-( I'll get over it besides VPC is still faster than booting the cdrom on another machine. FWIW & as an added note, the player can NOT build VMs. I thought my buddy Kylde was going to give me a link to his Win98 VM so that I could save some time but alas there is an ocean between us. ;-)

This is just one user's opinion & I am in no way affiliated with VMware.
