Half of my entries are either "http" or simply asterisks followed by dot 
domain name.

I did not know how to use the registry to add trusted sites but had to 
learn how to do it in our support of a very locked down bank environment. 
Users can not change much of anything including browser security settings 
so we have had to remote registry edit across the cubicle, across the 
various buildings, etc.

I'm sure if you Google you can find hits on adding sites to the trusted 
zone via regedit.
