I have a P4 3.0GHZ with an ATI X600 PCI Express video card. It has 1 GB (2
X 512 MB DDR 400 PC3200) ram and I'm running Windows Media Center 2005. I
am planning on scanning many old pictures to make a home video/picture
library. As RAM seems to be fairly inexpensive these days, I was thinking
of adding another GIG or possibly more as my MB can handle up to 4 GB.
If you plan on doing video processing then I'd say go for it but for
still image processing I'm sure it's not needed. I have 2g and when
processing large video files I could use some more but I don't really
do enough of that kind of work to justify it besides if you go over
3g then you may have to modify your boot.ini to accommodate. You can
search the MSKB for more detailed info if you like.
