You are not saying if you tested to speakers with another source -
example any portable CD player that has the right jacks.
You seem to have tried several things at the PC end - the signal
source. Maybe you just had a weird failure.
Other thing to looks for is a loose or "mostly" broken wire at the
plug - wiggle it while plugged in.
