What about installing from the extracted file (on the hard drive), rather
than from a series of CD's? I seem to remember that this was a faster way
to go on previous OS's.
When you are right in the middle of installing an operating system, you do
not have access to your hard drive. When you are allowed to browse to locate
the Windows Service Pack 2 I386 file, all you are allowed to do is point to
it. Once there the installation process either uses it or it does not. My
current fear is that a executable file is contained in the I386 folder along
with a .dll file. When I get there again, right in the middle of the
installation process, I can point to the I386 folder as instructed, but I
will have no control over its use. It may use it or it may not. If not, I am
back to Square One and helpless again. I will find out over the weekend.
I can say this. The installation process tells me it wants the I386 folder.
I have the I386 folder. I hope it will be satisfied.
Thanks,
Chuck
