You should try the Dvorak.  After 25+ years of teaching keyboarding on
QWERTY, I taught myself Dvorak, and have used it since.  (Easy to self
teach -  I just repeated the alphabet until I had it by touch.)  Much more
restful.  My kids get annoyed when they come home, but both have learned to
adjust pretty quickly.  Only problem I have is that I pried off the keycaps
and moved them to the new positions, and they're not all the same shape and
size.

Had you used the Dvorak keyboard configuration before?  If laplink
somehow managed to change this from the standard I certainly wouldn't
use laplink any more.
