SMART was on, but I guess there was a driver tangle or something. Remember that I re-installed Win2K after replacing everything but the disks!
Wierd that it ran for 3 weeks w/o fault!

81 € for a new 120GB disk was a cheap fix, finally!

Richard, Turning on SMART in the bios should give you warning of
possible disk failure.  Saved my !!! a time or two. ;-)
