I've got a client with a couple of the linux (montavista IIRC) based Buffalo
1Tb Terastation units, they want to get an 8 or 12 port gigabit switch to
hook up all their Mac OSX design machines for viewing/editing large images
(up to 400mb each) stored on the Terastation. They have approx 400gb of
images and viewing thumbnails of the each directory (max several hundred
images) crawls on 100BaseT. Anyone know which, if any off the shelf,
generally available (retail/wholesale in Vancouver, BC, Canada) gigabit
switches support the jumbo frames feature as per the docs:
When using Jumbo Frame, the switch must support the Jumbo Frame standard
designated (4100 bytes/7418 bytes). For further information, reference page
13 of this manual.
Or course there is no page 13 in the document and the techs at Buffalo, seem
pretty clueless....
