I agree that DVD is a far superior storage media than tape which can last a 100
years
or more. Tape is too sequential and slow and is very susseptible to dust and
heat. Its also susseptible to dropout in magnetic flux no matter how well the
tape
is made.
I use DVD+R DL to backup my entire mp3 music library all 5.6GB worth of it
last night
in RAW format for quick access to the files and also made a copy of a copy with
Nero BackITUp in .nda format
as well as using Ghost 2006 to make the same backup.
Its always good to make three or many duplicate backups as you can using
different utilities so that if one backup should fail in the attempted recovery
of one utilitiy like Nero for instance, you can always recover the other
backups using Ghost or another utility just in case. ;)

Surely DVD's are better especially considering the long term reliability,
stability, signal loss - and recoverability from tape, which is a magnetic
media.
