You could try disabling and re-enabling the device. You can do that from
device manager (devmgmt.msc) or from the command line with devcon.exe.

Subject: Turn off comm port?

Hi,
I have one application that uses Comm 1 to input data from a weather
station. Occasionally when I reboot, it cannot connect. Checking
with Sandra Pro, I see that comm port 1 is working, but I don't know why.

Sometimes I have to reboot 2 or 3 times to get the app to see the
comm port. Is there any way to close the comm port directly from
Windows XP Pro without rebooting each time?

Thanks,

Warm Regards,
Lou
