I'm glad you added that...
I never connected to broadband without a router.
My router handles all the PPoE stuff, including my password and time-outs
for inactivity... (On a "call for InterNet Services, I am logged-in again
in a fraction of a second...For D-Link users, the M2 light goes on.
It is my hardware firewall, and NAT device.
I can bring any machine in here, and all I need is a NIC in that machine
and it is off and running.
I have noticed recently that on new installs of DSL, Verizon will give
you a modem and has a one port router built-in... (IT says it is a router
on the bottom label.)
Is that for the $14.95 account?
Nice of them, but pretty cheap at the same time... That makes you buy
your own switch, hub, or what-ever...
I have the 3360x864 KB/s account and got a combo modem-4 port router with
wireless.
