Okay, client with a small office, main desktop with XP Pro (with all the data), laptop with XP Pro and a desktop with XP Home.
On the laptop there are random loss of connectivity to the shares on the main desktop, errors about network path not being available/accessible etc. During these disconnections internet access works fine on the laptop and access to the shares works fine from the xp home machine. The motherboard and network jack have both been replaced by Dell. Also the security software has been changed on all machines from Norton to PC-Cillin. Still get this disconnection, sometimes a reboot fixes, sometimes not, sometimes physically disconnecting from the network helps, other times not, the length of time this happenes for is also inconsistent. >From talking with another consultant, he mentioned it could be some kind of smb timeout issue, I am looking into that now, any other suggestions? -- Harondel J.
