Yes you can. You can use the splitter on the same line. I have Comcast HSI and a TV card ATI AIW 9600 pro which does just great for me. I can watch TV while I surf the net as well with the TV application that came with the card.
You'd need a 2-way cable splitter box, a small 1 inch x 2 inch silver or gold three terminal box you can get from any lowes, homedepot, circuitcity or bestbuy run one cable from the main line to the input of the splitter box and another cable from one of any two output's to the TV card in the back of the PC. <http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/GE-2-Way-Signal-Splitter-AV23218-/sem/rpsm/oid/89644/catOid/-12887/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do> I have a 4-in-one signal booster cable box that I ran my main cable line into the input and ran each cable for the tv, computer and cable modem from it of which boost the signal over a spread of 6 to 8db from 75 to 300Hz. You can get these amplifier boxes from circuitcity or lowes which will set you back just $39 - $45. <http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=44964&catOid=-12990&c=1&cm_re=main%20marquee-_-Kick%20your%20Internet%20into%20high%20gear!-_-Motorola%20signal%20booster> Marc Sims Data Technician I Prince George's Community College >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sunday, March 26, 2006 >>> A friend has a new machine and has asked me to help set it up for her. Yesterday, we connected the cable to the cable modem to the computer, and the internet connection worked fine. However, she thinks this machine should be able to act as a TV also. It has a remote control similar to the one for my TV. There is a coaxial connection card on the back of the machine. My question is, can I use a splitter on the same line with one wire to the modem, and the other to the TV card? If so, what things should I be aware of? This is new territory for me. Also, if so, can both internet and TV function at the same time? (eg. watch TV in one window, and browse or get email in another). OS = XP Media Edition (or something like that.)
