It really depends on the manufacturer of the DVD disks.
Personally I perfer either maxell or memorex. I don't know about TDK.
+R is most common and can be read by most DVD players.
Rental movies are pressed during manufacture not burned as are pre-rec CD's 
also.
The format is DVD-9 or Pressed Dual Layer disks.

Couple of questions?
What brand does the best job of recording?
What type (-R or +R) is read by the most players?
My daughters player seems to read only -R.
Won't even read CDs.
I plan to send DVDs to some of my relatives and I want to get the best 
coverage.
What format are the Rental Movies in?
