Seems you are spending money for the sake of it.

I too use an "old" HP deskjet 895cxi so old it uses the 23 colour cartridge and 
not the better 78.

I use glossy labels for the CDs DVDs and normal high quality paper for the 
inserts and DVD sleeves

I have got the pre cut A4 sheets but find the quality is no better and the only 
real advantage is no
cutting out.  So I cut out and be dammed.

But it all depends how many you do.  I generally do about 30 CDs a week on 
average and use plastic
sleeves but I think I would use precut sheets if I uses cases.

I also refill my cartridges and throw them after 10 refills.  Much cheaper and 
no effect on quality.
