Boot into the BIOS setup and look around for the hardware monitor page which
will show you temps.

Or, install temperature monitoring software. Most retail motherboards come
with temperature monitoring software on the support CD. Or, you can try any
of those listed here:
http://www.passmark.com/products/temperature.htm

My favorite is Motherboard Monitor, but it's no longer being updated and can
be challenging for the novice to set up the first time. Can't tell you much
about the others.

How hot is too hot? Depends on the specific chip you're running, but
generally anything less than 60C is just fine. My "computer room" gets
quite warm in the summer and I've never seen more than 63C which is still
well under the chip limit.

Subject: PC Temperature

I have my PC upstairs of my paint studio and am running the following. XP
Home SP2, AMD Athlon XP 2000 +, 479 MB RAM. I keep it running all the time
and prefer the windows open. Summer is getting here and not sure how hot I
can let the room get before I need to put the A/C on the keep the system
from getting to hot, or would running a fan keep it cool enough to prevent
injury. Any imput would be appreciated.
Robbie
