Don't click on ads. If you did what I think you did, you clicked on TCP Optimizer which was underneath a heading called "Ads by Google". That led you to a Google page with TCP Optimizer on it.
More specific: http://www.speedguide.net Look the left hand side and scroll down to Shortcuts. Click on TCP/IP Optimizer. The Title of this screen is Downloads. Just under the title it says "SG TCP Optimizer". Just under that is a download-to-hard-disk icon labeled TCP Optimizer. Click that icon. The program is downloaded to your computer. Save it to a known location and run it. On the SG TCP Optimizer window, Click the appropriate bullet for your type of Internet connection. Make sure the correct network adapter is selected if you have more than one. Click the bullet for Optimal settings. Click Apply Changes. Reboot. Disclaimer: Before undertaking any tuning of your computer, insure that your System Restore is working and creating restore points on a regular basis (Windows XP). For earlier verisons, insure that you have appropriate backups needed to re-create the system registry.
