I sure don't remember M$ doing this in the past. By that I mean making a
public beta free for download. Isn't this something new? Think they'll do
it with Vista?

the learning curve is worse than i thought - I've had it a few months and
we
were traveling and my daughter needed to work on a report. She was
frustrated with word. Then she emailed the doc to herself and discovered
she
couldn't print it (she saved it as docx format, not doc). She was not too
happy...
BTW - there is an addin for 2003 that allows you to read the new format -
i
forget if it's for all older versions or 2003 only.
