Apparently, my message was duplicated, though I show only a single
copy being sent out, and there is only one copy in the archive.
(I've implemented duplicate filtering here, for LSOFT's list, so
didn't notice until you mentioned it.)

Thus, above the issue is apparently not file size, nor compression
ratios, but rather the perceived "canvas" size of the picture, as
expressed by Photoshop.  This size is affected by the pixels per
inch that PS happens to be using, and by the resolution of the
photo in pixels.

The thing to do is to look at the resolution expressed in the
original photo files, and to determine the value of pixels
per inch being used by PS.  Perhaps PS uses a higer value of
pixels per inch when it detects the phto was taken in
super-fine mode.
