I've used open connections myself before (Munich airport's a great place!), but only for checking E-mail. In today's case, it was continuous traffic from the time I noticed it until I put my own connection on the white list (no other protection). The only thing that bothers me is that I don't know how long this has been going on!

Maybe I should re-enable & try & make contact. They might be a pretty young lady student ;-)

Yeap. It will keep out the clueless - which is good enough for everyone
except hackers. It's one thing to borrow the signal when it unsecured and
open for all (and some people do leave theirs open intentionally), but the
minute you start hacking in order to use it, it's wrong.

BTW - it's possible the neighbor thought it was open intentionally.

But even WEP, as insecure as it is, would stop 98% of all neighbors.
