Do you think it might have to do with the fact that they are separate
drives?

It is extremely puzzling that the Vista install did not detect the
existence of your XP Pro installation. You may want to repeat
the Vista install to see if you can get it to recognize XP.

Sorry, recent Vista beta builds do not use boot.ini anymore
for dual booting.

I don't know of any easy fix for this problem.
