Yes, if you do not want the address of a particular computer on your
LAN to change, then you should assign it a static address. But don't
assign a static IP that is within your router's dynamic range. In
your example, that would mean an address higher than .7.
Check your router's setup. I'm skeptical that it only assigns .2 -
.6 dynamically unless you set than range yourself. Mine, for
example, has a default range of 50 dynamic addresses.
