It may be different in the US but since when has a RULE from a company
been LAW.

LAW is made by the government in association of the courts and judges
not by individuals including corporations and their directors.

However, a LAW might be broken inadvertently by a non US person gaining
access to copyrighted material. On the other hand what about a US
citizen accessing the site via the Internet (is there another way?) from
a terminal in say, London or Paris.

I do not know of a LAW that denies access simply because the accessee is
not in the US but it might be a condition of service in which case I
would initiate my right to information (or whatever you call it) or
access because you are a US citizen and access points are not against
the LAW.

However, I might be totally wrong but I don't think so.
