Looks to me like a switch at the end of the cable now connecting to #4 would be both the easiest and least expensive solution.
Here in the US those can sometimes be had totally free after rebate and can always be found for very little. Only thing else needed would be a couple of cables to hook the switch to the 2 computers. - Bill Hatcher [EMAIL PROTECTED] - -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Hugh Gundersen Sent: Friday, June 30, 2006 13:20 To: [email protected] Subject: [WINHOME] NEtwork advice - tip please Hi folks As you are aware I have a network with an ADSL modem(access point) in a Netgear 4 port router/switch - all hard wired. My system is in short telephone point > modem/router/computer 1/computer 2/ computer 3/ computer 4 (on other side of room) Computer 4 is fed by a single cable going up through the ceiling > across rafters > through ceiling > computer 4. If you can follow this you might realize that to place another computer near # 4 I would have to run another cable through the roof.... Not wanting to do this or buy a new WiFi ADSL router modem how can I run the two computer from one cable connection? Some say "get a switch" (cheap) Some say get another "router" (which is basically a switch?) Some say "drill more hole in the ceiling" Any suggestions -- ---------------------------------------- The WIN-HOME mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
