No, nothing there. Nowhere in the properties of the mouse either. Maybe the
last person was using a mouse that gave that option and now I am using a
regular ole mouse and the option is stuck. Any such thing. Like trying to
uninstall a program after someone deleted the folder from the program file.
This is win98 first edition.

It's probably setup like a Mac, where a single click opens or
runs the item. Go to [Control Panel - Folder options - General
Tab] and select the "Double-click to open an item (single-click
to select)" option.
