I see. Thanks, Chuck.
Haven't had a problem, for years,
but I'll remember your words.

Chuck, if you don't mind,
I'm using AVG and didn't understand
your post. My AVG seems (to me, at least
that's what it says, every time) to be
auto-updating itself with regularity.
What do you mean?
I mean that eventually the changes made by the many updates of the
engine and/or definitions seem to muddy the water or mess up the
application. In a year you may have over 12 updates of the engine
and over 300 updates of the definitions. This is my experience.
Others may have done well for years without uninstalling or reinstalling.
Many do not agree with me but I think of Windows and software like a
new building that may be remodeled over the years but will bear
scars of use and abuse for its entire life. I feel 3 years is a long
time to go without formatting and reinstalling Windows to clean
things up. The same for other software such as your antivirus.
