couple of ideas: 1) if it has a VGA out, plug a separate
monitor in there. It might be a little difficult figuring out
how to enable the separate video out, though I think there may
be keyboard shortcuts for that. If you can enable the
alternate video out ... check the picutre there. If it is the
same bad picture as you see on the screen, then the problem
lies in the video card. If it the picture is good, then the
problem is in the drivers that that drive the LCD and/or the
connector from the main board to the LCD isn't securely
connected.
2) While the laptop is open, push down on the the left middle
and lower part of the keyboard and on the left lower part of
the case where you rest your palms. It the picture changes or
gets better then the video card isn't properly seated and/or
the video processor chip isn't properly seated. In that case
you can try disassembling the laptop and reseating the video
card.
